Donors and beneficiaries of AvaCon expect its leaders to ensure the sound administration of the organization.<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"toc1\"><a name=\"Duties of Board Members\"><\/a>Duties of Board Members<\/h1>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read and Understand AvaCon, Inc. ByLaws &#8211;<\/strong> AvaCon&#8217;s ByLaws is the governing document of our corporation. All Board Members are expected to read and thoroughly understand the ByLaws.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duty of care<\/strong> \u2013 This involves being active in AvaCon\u2019s activities and understanding its mission.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duty of loyalty<\/strong> \u2013 Board members must acknowledge that the interest of AvaCon and its work must be the top priority. AvaCon has a conflict of interest policy that must be followed to avoid transactions that unfairly enrich any board member or officer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duty to manage accounts<\/strong> \u2013 AvaCon must be fiscally accountable. Board members must track budget data and establish and monitor internal controls.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duty of compliance<\/strong> \u2013 AvaCon has important legal obligations.
