{"id":226,"date":"2013-10-19T07:50:24","date_gmt":"2013-10-19T07:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.avacon.org\/blog\/?p=226"},"modified":"2014-06-19T10:53:58","modified_gmt":"2014-06-19T10:53:58","slug":"metaverse-cultural-series-mineopticon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.avacon.org\/blog\/2013\/10\/metaverse-cultural-series-mineopticon\/","title":{"rendered":"Metaverse Cultural Series: MineOpticon &#8211; 10\/19, 11AM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">MineOpticon<\/span><\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Saturday, October 19, 2013 &#8211; 2PM ET (11AM PT)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xBOpvqLI_uk\" width=\"620\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MineOpticon is an ensemble performance project and choreographic intervention into the MineCraft world.\u00c2\u00a0Situated on the CADRE Laboratory for New Media server &#8220;Orwell&#8221;, The MineOpticon stage is a conceptually inverted Panopticon populated by 8 performers who execute choreographic maneuvers using native resources in absurd and unexpected ways.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to their choreographic roles, MineOpticon performers are subject to all the same game mechanics as any MineCraft player on a server set to survival mode. Performers must remain well fed, during their rehearsals and performances or their avatar will literally die from starvation.
