{"id":103,"date":"2011-05-25T00:46:08","date_gmt":"2011-05-25T00:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.avacon.org\/blog\/?page_id=103"},"modified":"2017-10-05T02:16:26","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T02:16:26","slug":"second-life-community-convention","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.avacon.org\/blog\/events\/second-life-community-convention\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Life Community Convention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AvaCon, Inc. produced the Second Life Community Convention in 2010 and 2011. \u00c2\u00a0Archival information about the conference can be found below.<\/p>\n<h1>Past Conventions<\/h1>\n<p>The\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/slconvention.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second Life Community Convention<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0is three days of exciting activities, events, musical performances, machinima screenings, panels, workshops, and much more that showcases the abundant creativity of Second Life Residents. \u00c2\u00a0Since its inception, SLCC has been organized\u00c2\u00a0<em>by<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0the community\u00c2\u00a0<em>for<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0the community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/secondlife.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second Life<\/a>\u00c2\u00ae is a thriving online community based in a 3D environment which was established in 2003. It has \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Residents\u00e2\u20ac\u009d from all over the world\u00e2\u20ac\u201d1.4 million of whom have actively participated in the past 60 days. More than a game environment, Second Life combines the visual richness of a virtual world simulation with applications and tools for creative collaboration and social networking. Attendees come from many sectors, including government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, universities and colleges, hospitals, and non-profits, as well as individuals at the consumer level who use the platform for music, art, online community building, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of convention is to bring the many Residents of the Second Life community together to network, build friendships and to discuss Second Life in a common forum.
